"Six of these ships are to be built for the Northern Fleet and six more - for the Pacific," an unnamed source said. The Leader will be presented in two versions - with a nuclear and gas turbine power generating units.

For the time being, the Leader is not included on the state armaments program before 2020. Its construction will be carried out under the shipbuilding program that runs through 2050. The works on the project are to start next year.

Russian bases to span entire Arctic border by end of 2014

Russia will have military control of the entirety of its 6,200 km Arctic coastal zone by the end of 2014, just a year after Moscow announced its ambitious plan to build military presence in the region, Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu has announced.

“We have set quite a pace in our foray into the Arctic,” Shoigu said during a military council meeting in Moscow. “By the end of the year we will already deploy most of our units in the region – from Murmansk to Chukotka.”

Moscow announced its intentions to create a special force grouping in the strategic region in December last year, with Vladimir Putin saying that Russia needs to activate “all the levers for the protection of its security and national interests” in the “promising region.”

The undertaking, which Shoigu labeled“fundamental,” is now in full flow.

“Many of the sites in the region have to be repaired. In fact, a lot of them, such as airfields, logistics facilities, water intakes, power stations will have to be built from scratch, which is what we are doing right now.”

Russia’s Northern Fleet, which is headquartered in Severomorsk on the Kola Peninsula, has been assigned as the core of the new Joint Strategic Command, and also the main strike force.

Two Borey-class nuclear submarines, which will form the spine of the refurbished fleet, have been armed this year, and a third one has just completed trials. In total, eight Borey vessels are expected to be built by the end of the decade, though some of them may be re-deployed with the Pacific fleet.

Russia is also in the process of unsealing at least seven airstrips that were shut down following the collapse of the Soviet Union, with Tiksi in Yakutia expected to house the bulk of the Arctic air force.

Work also began in September on a permanent base located on the New Siberian Islands in the Laptev Sea. A military group consisting of two brigades will be stationed in the far North as part of the new military district.

The Arctic has attracted an increasingly intense gaze from the powerful nations that border it in the past decade, not least because it is thought to contain up to 30 percent of the world’s oil and gas. As technologies have advanced, more and more of those hydrocarbons have become recoverable and viable. The stretch of sea can also provide new shipping lanes for goods traveling between Asia and America and Europe.

Russia already has rights to any territories located within 370 km of its border, but has lodged claims on a much bigger part of the territory with the UN, due to the existence of an underwater shelf, which would make a sizeable portion of the Arctic an extension of Russian territory.

Canada and other Arctic powers have followed suit, with the exact divisions of territories expected to be decided over the course of the next decade.

Despite concerns from environmentalists, Shoigu said that the military would play a positive role in safeguarding the unique Arctic environment, and said that units are already engaged in a program of clearing up debris “that has accumulated for centuries.

Russian S500 Anti-Aircraft Missile Analysis Claims To Intercept ICBMs

The Russian military is developing a replacement generation of surface to air missiles S-500 high hopes that subsequent S-500 will considerably strengthen Russia’s air and area defense capabilities, may be a robust approach to reply to the U.S. anti-missile implements of war to the Russian border. except for some specific cases of S-500, Russia has been unbroken secret.

March of this year, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Yuri Borisov, said: “The way forward for S-500 are ready to make sure the full obliteration of all types of operations with extremely mechanics and trajectory targets.” Russia, the media conjointly expected, S -500 surface-to-air missile are considerably higher than the U.S. “Sade” system, not solely to fight against all sorts of craft, however conjointly to intercept military science trajectory missiles, worldwide trajectory missiles, satellites in low orbit, flying quicker than Mach five hypersonic craft. Having same that, “dragon head, not the tail” of the S-500 appears almighty.

Step by step to enhance

Russian SAMs are taking the “family-oriented”, series development, a generation a lot of advanced than the previous generation, the generation of a lot of powerful than the previous generation.

A rising star within the Russian S-400 “S” series active surface-to-air missile latest model, that relies on the S-300PMU2 to a replacement style conception, take full advantage of Russia radio, radar, rocket producing, electronics, laptop and alternative advanced technologies within the field of analysis, the event of multi-channel self-propelled anti-aircraft and anti-missile last paragraph of the lower surface to air missile instrument integrated remote may be missile twelve shooting six targets at the same time.

S-500 is developed on the premise of the S-400 self-propelled anti-aircraft and multi-channel high-level anti-missile late, low-orbit area integration of the fourth generation of opposing Remote / immoderate long-range surface to air missile instrument, its development is regular to start in 2005 years.

At that point, once the event of S-400 “Triumph” air missile instrument, and therefore the additional development of Russian military upgrading sort “Triumph”-M, the conception wasn’t nevertheless out of the system S-500’s. however the grim reality of military struggle state of affairs, forcing Russia to unceasingly improve on the “triumph”-M operational target, and step by step expand its ability to combat the anti-strategic trajectory missiles.

From non-strategic antiballistic missile strategic missile defense, anti-missile instrumentality in accordance with the law of development, the necessity to develop a replacement, dedicated anti-missile missiles and remotely take away defence capability, clearly this can be not Associate in Nursing upgrade to enhance the final sense, however technically a qualitative leap, then, S-500 system conception was born.

By this point, the U.S. hypersonic weapons technology has created considerable progress. By 2010, the u.  s. began to frequent hypersonic weapons testing, and achieved major technological breakthroughs. So, around 2010, the Russian facet of the S-500 and additional a goal should have opposing hypersonic combat necessities.

From 2013 forward, some media same the Russian S-500 began as “Prometheus.” The name is harking back to the U.S. “Aegis” missile destroyers. In Greek mythology, “Zeus” is that the king of the universe, “Prometheus” is given each human kindling and skills God, God is each bitter enemy. “Prometheus” at Mt. Olympus stealing hearth, given the human, human civilization was ready to develop, however conjointly to “Zeus” extinction of group arrange bankruptcy. Both the U.S. and Russia solely from the names of apparatus systems, it may be seen that Russia wished the next field below air and missile defense with the u.  s..
