Lavrov denies reports that Ukraine destroyed Russian armored column

BERLIN, August 18. /ITAR-TASS/. The reports, alleging that Ukraine’s security forces have destroyed a Russian armored column do not reflect reality, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Monday.

“When blatant disinformation is circulated in the media, I think, all adults will be able to distinguish facts from fiction,” the minister told reporters in Berlin. “For example, the reports after talks of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko with UK Prime Minister David Cameron saying that Ukrainian security forces destroyed some military column that advanced to Ukraine from Russia, were incorrect.”

“That’s what actually happened roughly at that time: a Ukrainian military column that moved towards the Luhansk region([in eastern Ukraine), to all appearances, with the aim to cut off the humanitarian aid delivery route, was destroyed by the separatist militia. That’s what happened,” Lavrov said.

“If such events are represented as gallant successes of the Ukrainian army - all right, do as you please, but don’t put on us the blame for this,” the foreign minister said.
