Ukraine Rearms the Army, Europe pays, Poroshenko threatens--and the risk of a major war is growing

Military reform the Ukrainian leadership wants to give new impetus to the fight against pro-Russian separatists in the East of the country. Prime Minister, Arseni Jazenjuk announced modern weapons and a new management system of the armed forces on Friday agencies according to Kiev. In the past week alone, the Ukraine had spent 65 million dollars for weapons according to information from the Ministry of the Interior.

What the article does not say: the upgrade come from extensive credits, granted by the EU their newly associated member.

The upgrade alone should weigh on the Ukrainian State budget in the high three digit million region in the next few weeks and months.

Upgrade operated by a country which is technically bankrupt, and survives only on the drip of the EU.

The EU transfers to the Ukraine are likely to move summa Summarum in the next 12 months the total double-digit billions.

Worse still, The duo of Poroshenko / Yatsenyuk operates the upgrade, to defeat the rebels in the East of Ukraine. There are now but also Russian tanks, heavy Russian artillery and anti-aircraft missiles. In addition, stated Putin in an interview with ARD, Russia will not quietly and watch, the Ukrainian Government should intensify their attacks in the East.

In other words: The opponents there are no longer solely the separatists, but Russia. The Ukrainian President Poroschenko full bodied said he don't be afraid of a war with Russia.

"Our army is in a much better State than they were five months ago, and we have the support from around the world. Our soldiers show that they are able to defend our country."

Only a fool can believe the Ukraine - could teach there, or in the Crimea, a defeat Russia even after upgrading the Ukrainian army -.

The calculus of the Ukrainian Government duo is two-fold: to get the EU to further massive aid by the escalation of the conflict, and ultimately NATO into the conflict with drag.

Feel encouraged the Ukrainian Government doubles team in this approach by announcing a big NATO should maneuver, in which tens of thousands of soldiers to take part.

A gross misjudgment is that NATO apparently believes to be able to impress the Russian Government with such military maneuvers. However, there is the danger that the conflict developed a momentum of its own, which could eventually lead to the brink of nuclear war.
Therefore, it is high time that the Government in Kiev to force to tilt instead of more fuel to the fire if necessary with financial pressure to the negotiating table.

German Chancellor Merkel met Putin for an interview lasting several hours at the edge of the G-20 Summit in Brisbane/Australia with Russia's President. As long as you but doesn't want to take note, that Russia - not can be forced even with tougher sanctions--to withdraw the East Ukraine, or to give up support for the rebels, but only a comprehensive, mutually satisfactory negotiated solution can resolve the conflict, so long such meetings can produce no results.
