On 30 November and 1 December, Deputy Foreign Minister Alexei Meshkov visited Bulgaria.
On 1 December, Mr Meshkov held talks with Bulgarian Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov and political consultations with his deputy, Valentin Poriazov. The diplomats talked in detail about bilateral cooperation and also discussed current international issues.
They have confirmed their countries’ willingness to expand political dialogue, as well as trade, economic and cultural relations. They discussed progress in the implementation of major bilateral projects, future bilateral cooperation in transport, culture and tourism and interest in improving the legal framework.
Discussions of the current international agenda focused on ways to settle the Ukrainian crisis and on issues of regional and European cooperation.
Alexei Meshkov attended a celebration to mark the 100th anniversary of the consecration of the Church of St Nicholas, the patriarchal metochion of the Russian Orthodox Church in Sofia.
